Miss Melissa

Director and Lead Teacher

Miss Melissa has been in the field of Early Childhood Education for over 30 years. She is Director II certified through Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care and holds an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education. Miss Melissa has a passion for the field and stays up to date on the latest research through books, podcasts, trainings and professional development opportunities. She is also an active member of “Play is the Way” advocacy group here in Ipswich. Melissa has deep roots in the community as a fourth generation Ipswich resident. When not at school, she enjoys spending time with her family, walking with her beloved pup, Tucker, yoga, reading, boating and the beach.

Miss Dakota, Lead Teacher

Miss Dakota is a dedicated early childhood educator with a strong background in both education and healthcare. Earning an Associate Degree in Health Science from North Shore Community College, along with her Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification. Later completing her Bachelor of Science in Educational Studies from Grand Canyon University. With over 15 years of experience as a nanny and 6 years working in preschool settings, Miss Dakota brings a well-rounded, hands-on approach to early childhood education. She is certified as a Lead Teacher for Preschool and as a Teacher for Infant and Toddler classrooms through the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care. Miss Dakota is committed to staying current with best practices in early learning through ongoing education and professional development. A fifth-generation Ipswich resident, Miss Dakota has deep roots in the community and a strong appreciation for the town she proudly calls home. Outside of the classroom, she enjoys spending time outdoors, being on the water, and making memories with family and friends—especially during summers spent on her family houseboat.

Miss Jessica, Lead Teacher

Miss Jessica joined Small World in 2022. She holds an Associate of Science in Early Childhood Education from North Shore Community College. She is Lead Teacher certified for Preschool and Toddler/Infant by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care. Miss Jessica has deep roots in the community as a fourth generation Ipswich resident. She enjoys reading, art, hiking, boating and spending time with her husband and three children (all of whom attended Small World.) In the classroom, she brings her artistic talents to life, using creativity to engage and inspire the children.
